postheadericon MAC Alluring Aquatic

Recently MAC released the Alluring Aquatic collection. Pro members got a day early access but regular customers got free overnight shipping.

I wanted more but I just felt that with my NC45/NW44 coloring most of the collection just wouldn't work well. I did pick up three lipsticks. I picked up Mystical, Goddess of the Sea, and Enchanted One. The packaging is to die for! Both the box and the actual box have  little water droplets all over. I thought the water droplets would feel rubbery and come off but they are as hard as the packaging itself! Somehow MAC knocked it out of the park with this one. I just wish they would include great products for a variety of skin tones.

On to pictures

All three of them wear well for four to five hours. With Enchanted One, I like pairing it with a brown liner. It doesn't look too good just by itself. Goddess of the Sea is so very pretty. It's a warm purple that looks a lot like Bust Out from a previous MAC collection. Mystical is a very pretty color that learns a bit coral pink on me. They all are very buildable but all seem dupable.

Did you pick up anything from this collection? Please let me know in the comments.

postheadericon MAC Archie's Girls

Recently the MAC Archie's Girls collection was released online. I thought about getting a ton of stuff but quickly reeled myself in before I could do major damage.

I ended up only getting one item; A Veronica lipstick called "Boyfriend Stealer". I'm so glad that out of all of the lipsticks I made this one mine! The color on my brown skin is perfect! I'm thinking I just may purchase the lip gloss as well. And maybe the Veronica blush. And the other two lipsticks. Lol.

Without further ado.. Here are pictures and swatches.

postheadericon MAC Marilyn Monroe Swatches

As promised I ordered two lipsticks from the collection and wanted to show swatches. In addition to swatches I took pictures of the packaging as well. I purchased Scarlet Ibis which is a bright red/orange and pure zen which is a rosy nude.

So without further ado here it is.....

postheadericon MAC Marilyn Monroe Collection

Recently MAC released its Marilyn Monroe collection to MAC Pro members. I was so excited for this line to be released but I am honestly let down. Most of the colors look as it it just won't work with my coloring. I will be so glad when MAC decides o make a collection with dark bold colors. A Halloween collection would be nice. But I digress.

Here is what MAC says about the collection:

The fascination goes far beyond her beauty. With a persona as enigmatic as it is warm, Marilyn Monroe has forever captivated the collective consciousness as a brilliant and charming comedienne (Some Like It Hot, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes) or femme fatale with a secret in her heart (Niagara). She is her own work of art, forever the obsession of artists, photographers and filmmakers.

M A C Marilyn Monroe, a colour collection in shades and formulas distinctively Marilyn: Lipsticks in rapturous reds and gleaming Dazzleglass, a dramatic 35 Lash,False Lashes in Extreme Black and Large Eye Shadows in shimmering metallics and diamond tones. Along with Nail Lacquers destined to be a girl’s best friend and Beauty Powder to evoke that flawless MM skin.

The packaging features images from The Black Sitting, the famous series taken by photographer Milton Greene. These black and white photographs reveal Marilyn with an intimacy seldom seen.

Now I can honestly say I like the packaging. MAC kept it simple, classy and timeless! What I do not like in addition to the colors offered is that the collection contains so many permanent/repromotes. Now I for one like repromotes sometimes because it allows people to either restock up on an item or purchased a missed out on item. What I don't like is that almost the entire collection is permanent. I was thinking new colors or more Marilyn inspired names or something.

Needless to say I almost purchased nothing....and the only reason I did was 50% packaging and 50% because I like the colors of the lipsticks. I purchased Pure Zen and Scarlet Ibis lipsticks. A nude and a red/orange color. I will be sure to put swatches up just as soon as I receive my order this Friday.

postheadericon MAC Haul

This past week MAC allowed PRO members to get free second day shipping. I decided that was a good time to place an order for some makeup for myself. Take a looksee!

I actually placed two orders. In one order I purchased two eyeshadow pan refills.

Deep Truth
True dark blue (Frost)
US$11.50

Fig. 1
Eggplant purple (Matte²)
US$11.50

I thought the colors were so pretty and appropriate for the fall season or any season really. I paid $6.90 each plus tax of $0.94 brought my total to $14.74 for the two shadows.

As for my other order, I purchased a few more items....

Heaven & Earth
Frost deep teal/Satin black
US$20.00

I really wanted a black. As if I need any more black eyeshadows...but I thought getting a duo would be a great way to try two colors for the price of one. With my discount I paid $12 for the duo.

Pro Longwear Concealer
NC50
US$17.00

I already have the concealer in NC45 and NW45 but neither color is perfect alone. The NC45 is slightly white on my skin while the NW45 is too red. I thought maybe the NC50 would be a great choice for me. BTW, I use this concealer as foundation which is why I wanted a perfect match! With my discount I paid $10.20 for the concealer.

Naked Dark
Medium beige with pearl
US$20.00

Naked Deep Dark
Dark beige with pearl
US$20.00

I ADORE these two pigments! I love using naked dark as a highlight. It is just perfect for my skin tone. I hate using white as it looks ashy and a tad drag queenish on me. I think these two pigments are pro only so you might not be able to find them unless you call the pro number or visit a pro store. If you are wanting to purchase them, they can be found under "Multi-Use"....Those little wonders were hiding something fiercely on the site! I purchased the pigments at $12 a piece. My only regret is waiting so long to purchase them. I had them in my cart when they were $19 and with the old bigger jar but I would remove them each time I made a new purchase. Silly me!

Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation
NC50
US$26.50

This foundation is suppose to give full coverage. I wanted to use it with the concealer to see if it indeed does give me the coverage I'm looking for. I am going for full coverage without feeling full coverage! I hate that "I know I'm wearing makeup because I feel it on my skin" type of coverage. I want that "Did I put on makeup because my skin looks flawless but I can't feel it" type of coverage. For this foundation I paid $15.90.

As I stated I got free two day shipping so YAY!!!!.... For my last order my subtotal was $62.10 after my discount. With tax of $4.19, my total was $66.29. So with both purchase I spent $81.03! Great deal for some MAC products!

postheadericon Teal Dreams

Here's another makeup look by yours truly!

For this look, I used a mixture of pigments and pan eyeshadow. On the inside corner I used naked dark and melon MAC pigments. The teal color is MAC surf baby. The litter v is MAC pigments in black black. To blend the colors together, I used a matter brown color in the ELF 32 color palette. For my highlight I used naked dark.

I have on MAC hibiscus cheek powder on my cheeks and hibiscus lipstick on my lips. Over that is lipgloss in strange potions. I blotted that off and put on a hot pink lipstick from elf. I blotted again and what you see is what I got.

Hope you like!

postheadericon Purple Haze

I just wanted to share a makeup look with you all! I am a sucker for pigments so I created a look using only MAC pigments.

I used Melon on the lid. Grape was used in the crease along with a tiny bit of black black. For a highlight I used naked dark and also in the tear duct.

For my eyeliner I used E.L.F.'s waterproof eyeliner in plum. On my lips is MACs Bust Out! from the summer collection. On my cheeks I used MAC's Hibiscus cheek powder.

postheadericon Back 2 Mac

Recently I've gone through my makeup stash and realized that I haven't turned in some of my empty MAC containers. I was thinking of sending them back through the mail since some stores are iffy on accepting depotted eyeshadow containers. If anyone has used the Back 2 MAC program, what was your experience?

I will more than likely pick out a lipstick. Any recommendations? I'm leaning towards the color "Lady Danger". Beautiful color that will be great for the fall.

The cheek powder with my discount was $16.80. I plan to use it as a blush but because it is a cheek powder it might be bigger than a typical blush powder.

My subtotal was $44.70. With tax of $4 and shipping of $7, I paid $55.70.

What it does:

This combination Lip Gloss/Lip Stain Duo from NARS streamlines your makeup routine by offering two of its best-selling products together in one convenient item.

I've never had anything NARS before so I decided to start with lipgloss and see how I like it.

Now Sephora allows you to get 3 samples and use one coupon code...

Samples:

  • Philosophy Hope In A Tinted Moisturizer - Light, Light to Medium, Tan, Deep  (I doubt it will match my skin tone but I wanted to try it anyway)
  • Gucci Flora By Gucci Eau de Toilette - 0.06 oz (My mother likes this but I think it stinks!)
  • Dermadoctor Wrinkle Revenge Rescue & Protect Eye Balm - 0.067 oz (I don't have wrinkles but I shall use it anyway!)
Now...I was able to use the code BUXOMLOVE to get a deluxe sample of  the Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Stick in Brooklyn

.

I recieved the Milan (sun-kissed apricot) in a previous purchase, which I LOVE. The Brooklyn color is listed as being a harvest fig in coloring. Because I doubt anyone really knows what that is, it is the same color as the picture so I'm thinking a muddy red color.  The Buxom lipsticks are suppose to plump the lips but instead it gives a tingling/ peppermint type of sensation. It's quite nice. Reminds me of the Victoria Secrets RUSH lipgloss...the minty one.

Did I mention I ordered a couple of things from MAC too?....lol...I told you I have an addiction to shopping!...I only purchased two things...

I wanted to be able to contour and unfortunately I have yet to discover a bronzer that's dark enough for me liking. This leads me to my purchase from MAC

Shadowy: Deep brown matte
Original Price:$15.50
Price Paid: $9.30

A powder specially tinted to enhance natural bone structure and sculpt contours into the face. Immaculately shaded to create natural-looking shadow effects, the finish is sheer and matte.

Original Price: $19.00
Purchase Price: $11.40

An aqua-spritz of vitamin and minerals, infused with a calm-the-skin blend of green tea, chamomile, cucumber, topped off with the fresh, natural, energizing scent of Sugi. Adds radiance, finishes makeup. Spray it on. Skin drinks it up!

The reason I got the products for cheaper is because I am a macpro member....I get 40% off most products (just not on most collections).

postheadericon shopcraze.com

So...Maybe I'm late but I just found this site called shopcraze.com and I am in love with it. You can get NYX products for cheaper as well as MAC samples!...

I ended up making one purchase and then going back and making another later that night. lol. Ironically enough the second purchase got here before the first. Go figure...Anyways....In this haul I only purchased 3 lip glosses and three eyeshadows.

Here are the NYX Round Lipgloss:

Honey
(a light golden brown that looks pretty clear when on my brown skin)

Natural
( a great nude lipgloss)

Soap Opera Queen
(I seriously think this is the wrong picture associated with this name. The REAL soap opera queen is more like this:

That's a BIIIIIG difference)

Here are the swatches on my skin:

I also purchased NYX Loose Pearl Eyeshadows:

White

Nude

Turquoise

Here are swatches:

The lipgloss were $1.95 each and the eyeshadows were $1.45 each. The only downside is that the site does not have a whole bunch of brands like Cherry Culture but the shipping and item price for many things are a tad cheaper.
